Uhhh.... There's a voice over? Cuz I didn't hear one....

It's true, this is totally genuine. When it first aired on the TV, you could request a free 'making of' DVD on their web site, which I did... I have it at home, and you see them setting up the room etc. There's an alternative version on the DVD too with a slightly different model of the car.

those tires going up the ramp while maintaining speed looked so odd that it has to be a fake
Commented by: elelellel on August 1, 2006 06:50 PM
Actually, that could be all real. The tires could have been weighted on the inside, so wen the thing hit them, the weight would fall over, therefore, making the wheel go up. :D
Commented by: DeathChain on August 1, 2006 08:30 PM
Yeah,
I thought the tyres were fake, until I read one of the above comments about weighting inside - after looking again x 5, I notice the second wheel rebounds to a weighted point, so this maybe genuine...

Holy sh*t! ^_^ I love that comm, I've seen it on this 'urban myths' website and they proved it to be true! That comm is so cool! The weighted down part seems reasonable enough, and maybe the board it was on was made so the tires couldn't go backwards...Coolest video I have ever seen! :P

CCC youre a dumB ass... the video is real. the weight balance in the tires caused them to roll up hill (for a very short distance). take a physics class dude... for all you who like this sorta thing (Rube Goldberg action), check out a video called: "the way things go"

Yes, it's most definitely REAL. (C'mon, guys. It's easy to weight a tire to roll a small way up a ramp.) This video has been running 'round the net for years and has been talked about often as one of the most technically beautiful commercials ever filmed. It was made for a Honda model that sold in the UK and not the US, so many in the US may not have been aware of it. (That model may have sold elsewhere in Europe as well, though I don't know. Post if you know more.)

This is just a response to Alex: how could you make a completely flat board be able to make tires go up, but not down, with nothing but a board?

This just hit me after a cuple seconds after last comment. There are brakes inside the wheels, rite? the side of the wheel that has the brake inside, could be the Weight!!!
Commented by: DeathChain on August 12, 2006 01:30 AM
ok, nevermind wat i said with the brakes. its empty. except for the weights in the tire. no brakes.

not saying this isnt real. but how is it that something rolls to the window on a board, stops because the window is up then the window rolls down with the board in the middle of it and then the thingy continues down the board????
Commented by: jerry on September 15, 2006 02:20 AM
Just inside the window is a small assembly. When the tube rolls onto it a circuit is completed which lowers the power window. By stopping the tube the window also keeps it from gaining to much momentum and shooting out over the next step.

The tire stuff is fake up the ramps. Honda and domino affect with gravity actually equals the total amount of engine torque! (Honda joke for you!)
Maybe if they realize tires need gravity or power to turn! Bahahaha! Keep up the illusion honda! Theres billions of dollars out there!

The board through the window is actually two boards. One on each side. If you watch it closely you will see (and hear) the tube drop a couple of millimeters as it passes from one board to the other. It would have to be uneven to prevent the tube from getting stuck in the gap between the boards. Nice.
