Ah yes, the beautiful Belgian Malinois. These particular characters trained with French police and are top of the line working dogs. Their handlers did a wonderful job and this is a great 'show off' clip. Malinois are a versatile working breed and can be trained for just about anything. I have two but I don't think I could ever put them in the line of fire, then again, I am not a police officer that needs a partner that will not hesitate. I wish I knew their lines, (the dogs). these malinois dogs did a great job. but still i dont think they wouldn't be that efficent in real action, expect if you expecting the criminal to be brainless, or blind. i see that the dogs are not attcking the necks...just the hand!!one bullet to their heads and it done!!! and its bad to loose nice dogs like these...ill just train them to massage me and get me beer, maybe dance hiphop for money ;)

Wait...these guys are sending police dogs to jump an armed assailant? That's a good way to end up with a dead dog. This would never work in the US or Britain, the animal rights people would have your heads for it.

bad ass dogs..and, actually, they do use dogs for these purposes in the United States. Better to lose a dog than to lose a police officer with a family, hm? That's the difference between bite dogs and sniffer dogs. Bite dogs have more fun.

This only works because the police can arrive 10 seconds later and hold the guy at gun point and force him to surrender.

The dog alone is not a huge problem unless it goes for the neck(Pressumably it's been trained not to). Get a good grip around it's neck with your legs(So it can't reach your neck, and can't tug or thrash too much), try to choke it(Takes only a few seconds of complete lack of blood flow to the brain for a human to pass out) and bludgeon it's head with the nearest rock or hard object, your fist in worst case.

If it goes for the neck right from the start all bets are off, and it would be hard to get ahold of it until it actually bites you some place.

The supposition that you'd panic and roll up into the fetal position without any self-control is laughable.

I think you'd be too busy s**tting your pants to shoot one (or two!) of those missiles before it hits you!

I did not post the comment above on August 29th. Today I saw the video and I was quite proud of those brave dogs that risk their lives so that ours may be spared. Along with seeing eye dogs. A dog with purpose.

The people who say that they can defend themselves against there dogs have never worked with them clearly.
I've seen people shitting all over themselves out of pain and fear when being bitten by a police dog.
These dogs are trained to bite the arm which is holding the gun, and tear it up. Before you can use your gun your arm won't even work anymore because its all torn up.

My father trains these and works with them alot he has sent many dogs after people and has shown even people in kevlar and such to flee in terror of these dogs when they will take on armed police officers. These dogs tear people apart i have seen peoples scalps tore off and chunks of skin taken from many places in the body. People also get the saliva of the dogs in their wounds which gets infected unless treated. These dogs are awesome and you feel so much more safe about your father being a cop when you see how much damage these brilliant animals can do. My father has been viewed as one of the great trainers in the united states because people from all over the country come to take the class on training their dogs correctly. His first dog a german shepard which is also a great police dog was considered the best in our state and one of the top in our country. He trains dogs to sniff out people and to bite people. The only thing he doesnt train is bomb dogs but he has helped train them before.
All that stuff that cryptic said you should do does not work you are writhing in pain way to much to get a grip on it at all and you likely wont be able to punch the dog or hit it with a rock because police officers are trained to do exactly what they do in that video and charge the criminal right as the dog gets a hold on them.
I have seen police dogs do all of the stuff in the video and even more. My father has shown us how they can sniff a person out who ran down the street a few miles right to their hiding spot or front door it is really exciting. They are effective in fights because they suprise people and seeing a big dog bark in your face and charge you down will frighten even the most hardened people. I have been in those attack suits and had the dog come after me it scares you to death you just fall over if your smart and let it go for your arm so you dont get harmed any more.
Some good advice could be dont ever try to fight these dogs just lay down and take your punishment like a good little criminal.

lol, some people can be pretty bad ass, and one time of evolution we even were killing machines. but without a doubt these dogs know what they are doing, tell ya what i'd be scared shitless if a police dog ran at me, these dogs have been trained to take down criminals and could very easily kill you if it wanted to. no matter what someone says about these dogs, 1 vs 1, you'd be lucky to make it out alive. not impossible but odds are against you.
