| They use a chemical called calcium carbide or calcium dicarbide which reacts with water to form acetylene, the gas used in welding. This then combines with the surrounding air and can be blown up using a sparker. |

| you can get oxygen and acetylene in a balloon i think 7:3 ratio? and it make a nice boom even better in a hefty garbage bag look up on youtube or somthing acetylene bomb |

| Even if the balloon is filled with pure acetlyene it will give you a nice explosion because of the surrounding air. It would be better if there is both acetylene and oxygen though. |
