standing near the origin of the blast is because
it was specifically designed to direct the majorit
y of the blast and/or projectile towards a certain
direction/height. In essense, it went over/around
him but probably injured the crewmembers in the v
ehicle (it looks like the Bradley crew may be pull
ing up to provide local security for a Medavac). T
here is also the possibilty that the insurgent bur
ied the IED too deep and the asphalt/dirt absorbed
most of the energy of the blast rendering it virt
ually ineffective.
